Common faults of pellet mills: oil leakage 1
For gear-driven pelletizers, oil leakage is the most common fault issue. Oil leakage is an inherent drawback that gear-driven pelletizers must address. How can these issues be better resolved?
First, regular cleaning must be performed to prevent dust and debris from contaminating or damaging the oil seals. Second, machine records should be established, and seals should be replaced regularly during maintenance to avoid disrupting normal production operations.
Oil leakage from the gear shaft oil seal is the most common and easiest to occur. The gear shaft oil seal operates at high speeds for extended periods. For a new gear-driven pelletizer, the first component that may require maintenance is the replacement of the gear shaft oil seal. While replacing the oil seal is straightforward for maintenance personnel, special attention must be paid to adjusting the coaxiality between the motor shaft and the small gear shaft when addressing this issue.
