Fault of Pressure Roller Bearing Causes Abnormal Operation in Pellet Mill
The pressure roller bearing is a core part that supports the pressure roller rotation in a pellet mill. Bearing damage leads to pressure roller failure. Replace the pressure roller (or the bearing alone if the roller surface is intact) when the following occurs:
Obvious Abnormal Noise During Operation
If the pressure roller makes "rustling", "clunking" sounds or periodic "buzzing" vibration, and there is obvious resistance/gap when rotating it manually after shutdown, the bearing is severely worn (e.g., worn balls, broken cage) and needs replacement. If the bearing housing is deformed, replace the entire pressure roller assembly.
Abnormal Heating of Pressure Roller Bearing
30 mins after the pellet mill starts, if the bearing housing temperature exceeds 70℃ (normal temp difference from ambient ≤30℃) and insufficient lubrication is ruled out (adequate grease added), the bearing has excessive internal friction (e.g., deteriorated grease, rusted balls). Shut down immediately to replace the bearing or pressure roller to avoid burnout.
