What should you note when choosing wood pellet materials? Here are 5 key points:

Strict moisture requirements

Raw materials for wood pellet mills require strict moisture control. Regardless of the type of wood chips, their moisture content must be maintained within a range (preferably 14%–20%). If too dry, they won’t form; if too wet, they’ll easily loosen.

The material’s inherent adhesiveness

Raw materials must have inherent adhesiveness. Without it, the products pressed by the wood pellet mill will either fail to form or be loose and easily broken. Therefore, if you see non-adhesive materials pressed into pellets or blocks, the raw materials must have been tampered with—either fermented or mixed with something like binders.

Pure wood chips alone are sufficient for making wood pellets; no additional binders are needed. Wood chips are crude fiber materials with a certain degree of inherent adhesiveness. When compressed by the wood pellet mill (which exerts very high pressure), they will form naturally and be firm.
