Wood chipper blade chipping is a common problem in pellet mill pretreatment. It not only damages chip uniformity and reduces production efficiency, but also increases consumable and maintenance costs, directly impacting the feed quality and stable operation of the pellet mill. The following article outlines the core causes of blade chipping and shares practical tips for extending blade life and ensuring efficient pellet mill operation.
The core reasons for chipping wood chipper blades are: impurities such as metal mixed in with the raw material impacting the blade; inferior blade material and insufficient hardness; uneven stress due to improper installation gaps; and excessive feeding speed exceeding the blade's load-bearing capacity.
Tips to extend the lifespan of wood chipper blades include: installing metal detectors to prevent impurities from entering the machine; using high-hardness, high-quality alloy blades; adjusting the gap between the blade and the bottom blade to control the feeding speed; regularly sharpening the blades; and stopping the machine to clean residual material to avoid wear from idling.
We are producing pellet machine and complete lines already for 20 years. and our key machines are biomass pellet machine, wood pellet mill, wood chipper, wood crusher, wood hammer mill, rotary dryer, pellet cooler and the complete lines. The pellets diameter can be from 4 mm to 30 mm. The output is from several kilograms to several tons per hour. If any interest, feel free to connect us.
