The pellet mill press roller may stop turning due to several common reasons. Material blockage can be caused by excessive feeding, wet or sticky materials, or foreign objects jamming the roller and die. Damaged, seized or poorly lubricated bearings are another main cause, and incorrect roller clearance that is too tight will also lead to excessive friction.
Other possible causes include worn or broken drive parts like keys and splines, as well as deformed or misaligned roller shafts. Improper assembly with over‑tightened parts can also result in the roller not rotating.
